Wichita Region SCCA - #10 - 2017
Let's go Autocrossing!
A chilly, windy, overcast morning in November is a good reason to stay indoors (or at least to keep warm), but, not enough of a reason to miss a race day! The final Wichita Region SCCA's autocross event of 2017 had unwelcoming morning weather, but there was still a remarkable turnout nonetheless. After getting the cars teched, the event proceeded with the preliminary kids group piloting gas-powered karts and then two subsequent groups for the adults. After looking at the karts and cars below, you can check out how their lap times stacked up for the day here.
Several car manufacturers were represented from Honda to Subaru, Mini to Porsche, and the American Big Three. Chevrolet was the most represented manufacturer with a quarter of the racers piloting a Chevrolet. The Corvette was the most represented car model with four examples across three generations. Interestingly, the Miata and Camaro were tied for the second most represented car models. Anyway, enough trivia, take a look at the entries in action!
This was a fun event and it was great to see some of these cars roar to life, corner on three wheels, abuse their tires, spin-out, and inevitably slay some cones. Getting much closer to the track for these photos was a treat and I'm sure piloting, or even riding in, any of these vehicles would have been tremendously fun.
Were you any of the pilots photographed at this event? Are you interested in a full resolution copy of the photo suitable for large prints without a watermark? Contact me!
