316ModernMopar April '18 Cruise
The 316ModernMopar club had another group cruise event for April a couple weekends ago. Check out the route and some of the sights after the jump!
Despite the bitterly cold, windy weather (which seems to be a common occurrence for these events), there were still a good number of Mopars in attendance this cruise. This event we had something very rare, very special. To give some background for the uninitiated to the SRT Automotive group of FIAT Chrysler, SRT is the group responsible for (among other things) the engines in the highest performance trim of the modern Mopar vehicles. Usually these Trims will have the SRT logo followed by a number indicating the number of cylinders powering the vehicle. Across all the SRT vehicles there were four different cylinder counts: SRT4, SRT6, SRT8, and SRT10. This event there was an example of each of these engines in attendance. Further adding to the bittersweet moment and photo opportunity was the fact that all of the representing models of car have been discontinued.
From left to right, in the photo above, are the SRT4 Dodge Caliber, SRT6 Chrysler Crossfire, SRT8 Dodge Magnum, and SRT10 Dodge Viper.
The route this event would tour the southeastern scenery of Kansas including the rolling Flint Hills. First gathering in Andover as usual, then pit stopping at the Beaumont Rest Area, eventually lunching at Toot’s Drive-in in Howard, then pit stopping at Babi’s Petro Stop in Winfield, and finally heading North back to Wichita. The weather only got better after Beaumont and made the socializing even better while out of the cars on the cruise. Everyone was smiling enjoying their own rides and seeing so many other cool cars in proximity. As silly as the Dodge commercials may seem, it really was like a brotherhood this trip; friends, family, teasing each other for driving slow, laughing in good company, and a generally great time. Check out the video below for some of the scenery and sounds from this cruise and then check out the cars after.
